Capscan Enables Businesses To Control Mailing Costs In Face Of Royal Mail Price Increase
New Version of Sortcode Supports Royal Mail and TNT Discount Schemes Capscan, a leading supplier of UK and international address management solutions and data integrity services, today launched the new version of its mailing software, Sortcode. The software now features easy scheduling and management of multiple jobs and supports both TNT and Royal Mail’s discount schemes, assisting marketers to achieve the maximum savings available for large volumes of mail.
Sortcode ensures bulk mail conforms to postal discount criteria by pre-sorting, formatting and adding selection codes to address data prior to a mailing or direct mail campaign, before it reaches mail carriers. Capscan has broadened support for major services, including TNT’s Premier Downstream Access (DSA) service, enabling TNT’s customers to achieve additional discounts on top of Royal Mail’s Mailsort, Walksort and Presstream.
“Mail carriers’ discount schemes for bulk mail are designed so that the most complicated part of posting a letter – the sorting – is passed to the customer,” comments Managing Director of Capscan, Terry Hiles. “The new version of Sortcode makes this a quick and easy procedure for each and every mailing. The improved, simple interface and automatic processes ensure that sending bulk mail is as streamlined as possible. Users are rewarded with faster delivery and better accuracy in large volumes of mail reaching its destination.”
Using an example contact database containing one million records for a mailing, a customer would spend over £340,000 using standard first class delivery. Using Sortcode to pre-sort for Royal Mail’s Mailsort 1400 scheme, the user would achieve a saving in excess of £55,000*.
The new version of Sortcode features redirection of foreign addresses to a separate output file, automatic data and software updates via the Internet, a Job List for easy organisation of current and repeating sort jobs and a range of new features which make setting up a new mailing possible in less than a minute. These new features include automatic input format detection; a test read facility and example record display to assist the user in making any format changes.
Sortcode can be used in conjunction with Capscan’s Matchcode software, which matches address data against the Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File (PAF) to ensure that only high quality contact data is input into the contact database. As a result, the quantity of incorrectly addressed items is minimised, ensuring that the maximum saving is attained.
The software continues to support Royal Mail’s Mailsort 1400 (the most commonly used for standard mailings), Mailsort 700, Mailsort 120, Walksort (where mailings are concentrated to a specific area or location), Presstream and Presstream Walksort. Postal discounts are achieved for volumes of over 4,000 standard letters or 1,000 large letters or packets. Marketers using Sortcode to sort their own mail and making sure at least 90% of the addresses have the correct postcode can expect to save up to 30% with Royal Mail’s schemes. TNT requires mailbags to be in order of increasing distance of the delivery depot from the collection depot, once Mailsort processing has been completed.
The new version of Sortcode is available from Capscan now.
